What: WRIR Presents Local Art and Music, with Marionette and Dark Little Rooms
Where: Metro Space Gallery at 119 West Broad Street
When: First Friday, Oct. 5, from 6-11 p.m.
Admission: Suggested donation $5 at the door
Background: WRIR 97.3 FM, Richmond Independent Radio, kicks off its on-air Fall Pledge Drive on Wednesday, October 3.
During its week-long effort to raise funds, WRIR will host a benefit art opening and musical event during Downtown Richmond’s First Fridays Artwalk. The Metro Space Gallery (located right next door to Metro Sound & Music) will have WRIR’s exhibit of donated local art. A percentage of each sale will go toward helping WRIR produce great radio.
At 6 p.m. in the Metro Space Gallery, Richmond bands Marionette and Dark Little Rooms will perform live. In addition to the gallery performances, DJs will be spinning music across the street at Turnstyle (102 W. Broad Street). Refreshments at the gallery will be courtesy of Cous Cous and Sticky Rice.
Both the gallery event and musical performances are for the suggested donation of $5, to benefit WRIR.
