Wolf’s Save Our Schools blog

Former journalist and local school board member Carol A.O. Wolf has been active in discussions at several of the popular community news web sites in the last year. Now she has launched her own blog — Save Our Schools.

In the blog’s sidebar Wolf has a couple of quotes that give a reader some idea of where she’s coming from:

Va. Code § 2.2-3700.B, in part:

The affairs of government are not intended to be conducted in an atmosphere of secrecy since at all times the public is to be the beneficiary of any action taken at any level of government.

“Thought that is silenced is always rebellious. Majorities, of course, are often mistaken. This is why the silencing of minorities is necessarily dangerous. Criticism and dissent are the indispensable antidote to major delusions.” ~ Alan Barth, The Loyalty of Free Men, 1951.

Barth (1906-1979) served on the editorial board of The Washington Post for thirty years.

  1. This is the best news! Way to go, Mrs. Wolf! Until she came on School Board, no one spoke up for the children with disabilities in our schools.

Exceptional Education teachers and families of children with disabilities in our schools lost a friend and an ally when she left the board. I speak for myself, and many others, when I say that we are so thankful that Mrs. Wolf is willing to continue to be a voice in our community someone who is willing to fight on behalf of all those who are rendered voiceless by a bureacracy that cares more about “perceptions” than they do about the “reality” of what is happening in our schools.

Without her advocacy, the improvements in ADA accessibility would never have been brought to light nor would many of my older, retired colleagues have had the time to get their health insurance benefits right before RPS yanked them.
