On Tuesday Goochland’s Justin Verlander (pictured above) certainly had his stuff. With his stellar performance Verlander put himself on an exclusive list of big league pitchers — in beating the Milwaukee Brewers, he threw a no-hitter. It was just the sixth no-no in the 107-year history of his club, the fabled Detroit Tigers.
AP has the story:
Justin Verlander threw 100 mph heat, crazy curves and a tantalizing changeup. No-hit stuff, indeed. With a big assist from his shortstop, Verlander pitched the first no-hitter in Comerica Park history, leading the Detroit Tigers over the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 Tuesday night.
It was the best thing that ever happened to me,’ he said…
For CAA buffs: Verlander, who played his college baseball for ODU, was helped by an RBI from Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge, who is a VCU product.
