Down 4-1 after five innings, VCU rallied to tie the championship game with Delaware in the seventh. Then neither team scored until the Rams exploded for six runs in the top of the 13th. Thus VCU won the longest game in the conference’s tournament history: VCU 10, Delaware 4.
The Rams (37-21) now have to wait until the official announcement on ESPN, tomorrow (Monday) at 12:30 p.m, to learn of their NCAA tournament destination and opponent. Other CAA members must wait, too, hoping for an at-large invitation.
