Did you know the Miss America competition was still around?
Well, it has moved to Las Vegas and basic cable (TLC), but the pageant that began in Atlantic City in 1921 is still handing out shiny little crowns to pretty young women, who say the right stuff. On Saturday night Caressa Cameron, a 22-year-old broadcast journalism student at VCU won the title.
Cameron won the title and a $50,000 scholarship Saturday night after strutting in a skintight yellow dress, belting Beyonce’s “Listen” from “Dreamgirls” and advising parents to limit video games and television when asked about childhood obesity during an onstage interview.
