Many have high hopes pinned on Michael Rao - that he will raise VCU's academic profile as Trani increased it's physical footprint. Rao has his work cut out for him - the Monroe fiasco, the police chief embarrassment, the Philip Morris situation - all has to be cleaned up. And to do so, he probably needs to clean house. There are many fiefdoms entrenched around the Monroe Park campus. His challenge will be, in my opinion, getting rid of faculty, staff, and others who were involved in the above listed matters and those who work overtime to protect mediocrity in adjunct ranks so that the university can move forward and realize it's potential. Good luck Rao!!
