In the Colonial Athletic Conference the regular season ended with today’s action. Upon defeating VCU, 73-70, Old Dominion finished in first place. The other three teams to earn byes into the CAA tournament’s second day of play were Northeastern, George Mason and William & Mary.
With the championship tournament on the horizon, Mar. 5-8, the conference will announce its All-Star team, just prior to the opening round of the tournament. In the meantime, here are what seem to me to be the first and second All-CAA teams, according to what I‘ve seen this season.
The Hub’s All-CAA First Team
Chaisson Allen (Northeastern)
Denzel Bowles (JMU)
Charles Jenkins (Hofstra)
Larry Sanders (VCU)
David Schneider (Wm. & Mary)
The Hub’s All-CAA Second Team
Jawan Carter (Delaware)
John Fields (UNCW)
Matt Janning (Northeastern)
Gerald Lee (ODU)
Cam Long (Mason)
And, to me, Wm. & Mary’s David Schneider ought to be the CAA Player of the Year. Hofstra’s Charles Jenkins was my runner-up.
Please note this post is not meant to be my predictions for which players will be named by the league. Actually, I expect Janning and Lee will make first team, probably at the expense of Bowles and Allen. But I’m sticking to what I saw, rather than a bunch of scuttlebutt.
