ERIE, PA – The Richmond Flying Squirrels completed a three-game sweep of the Erie SeaWolves with a come-from-behind, 5-4, victory on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park.  Richmond finished its six-game road trip with a record of 4-2 with the win.

The SeaWolves got to Richmond right-hander Mike MacDonald in the second inning as they took a 3-0 lead.  Kody Kaiser started the uprising with a one-out single and MacDonald walked Deik Scram behind him to put two aboard.  Andy Bouchie followed and drilled a MacDonald fastball to center field for a three-run home run, giving Erie the game’s first lead.

Richmond got one run back against Erie right-hander Thad Weber in the third when Skyler Stromsmoe led off with a single.  Darren Ford laid down a bunt-single that was thrown away by Michael Bertram up the first-base line to move Stromsmoe to third.  He scored when Brandon Crawford bounced into a double play, pulling Richmond withing two runs, 3-1.

The Squirrels finally pulled even in the seventh inning.  Stromsmoe led off again with a single and Ford doubled him to third with a liner to the left-field corner.  Weber recovered to get the next two batters without damage done, but with two outs Roger Kieschnick delivered a two-run single to left-center field to tie the game, 3-3.

Weber departed to a no-decision following the single.  He allowed three runs on 11 hits over 6 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out five.

MacDonald returned for the seventh and recorded the first out before facing Bouchie.  Bouchie stung him again with his second homer of the day, a drive to left-center that gave Erie the lead back, 4-3.  Bouchie drove in all four runs in the loss for Erie.  MacDonald also departed after 6 2/3 innings and didn’t factor in the decision.

The lead was short-lived for the SeaWolves as Michael Ambort led off the eighth inning against left-hander Matt Hoffman.  Ambort drilled the first pitch over the right-field wall to tie the game, 4-4.  Tyler La Torre followed and send a routine-grounder to second base that was booted by Alden Carrithers.  Richmond used the opening to score the game-winning run as La Torre advanced to third on a Ryan Lormand single and scored on a sacrifice fly from Stromsmoe.  Hoffman (0-1) was tagged with the loss as the SeaWolves committed five errors in the ballgame.

Andy Sisco (1-4) had finished the seventh for MacDonald and continued to work a scoreless eighth.  His efforts were rewarded with his first victory of the season.  Tony Pena Jr. worked a perfect ninth to complete the series-sweep and earn his sixth save of the season.

The Squirrels return home to Richmond to open a three-game series with the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) on Monday night.  The opener of the series is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at The Diamond.
