Everyone is over at the chpn discussing it. Probably because life is rougher in the east end schools. And I know I'm mad that no one downtown is doing anything to make east end schools people's first choice and uniforms are not going to change a damn thing from what I've seen in the poor RPS. I say give us high quality teachers and good leaders that are able to keep teachers from fleeing, give us advance language art books, stop teaching to the damn tests, give the many bright students something more, do something about the outrageously high suspension rates at the elementary level, fix our schools and build a badly needed new one. Woodville elementary is busting at the seams with over 600 students and has a shortage of staff and at the same time they have another east end elementary on a chopping block. The east end has gotten the short end of the stick for far too long and proposing uniforms won't trick me. It is a vote draw ploy like Gilmore's "no car tax." Come on Goldman, I've heard you're a very bright man with great ideas and this Carytown mall stuff and uniforms is not doing it for me.

Gray,

Candidate Goldman is doing a good job of keeping his name in the news, in discussions at happy hour and in the comments of blog posts.

However, if a given school's administration and PTA want to adopt uniforms that seems OK with me. To order it from the top down seems rather draconian and I doubt it would go over.

Either way, when it comes to improving public education in Richmond, dwelling on a dress code appears to be more of a distraction than a solution.
