Jonny Z Festival

Sat., Aug. 7: A 10-hour event apparently isn’t enough for our stalwart staff and vigorous volunteers, so we’ll be ready to play again Saturday for our 3rd Annual Jonny Z Festival in the Fan. From 12-5pm we’re closing the street and opening the creative floodgates in the 200 block of N. Shields Ave. in front of Joe’s Inn (between Grove and Hanover). Here’s what you have to look forward to…besides sunny skies and temps in the mid-80’s:

Bizarre Market: a bountiful bazaar featuring all kinds of handmade things from vendors sharing 10% of sales with ART 180 (so support your local artists!)

Music:
12:20-12:45 – Ghostdog & Cinnamon
1:00-1:25 – The Catnip Dreams
1:40-2:05 – Josh Small
2:20-2:45 – Manic Ceramic (featuring ART 180 program participant Jackson Meyer)
3:00-3:30 – Photosynthesizers (featuring ART 180 program leader Maurice Jackson)
3:45-4:30 – The Girtles (an all-girl Beatles cover band!)
and WRIR DJ’s throughout the day

Activities:
Custom ART 180 T-shirt making – led by Studio 23
Face painting – led by Mya Anitai, Melissa Roberts and Lauren Leake
Seed bomb workshop – led by Lauren Paige Richeson
Squiggle drawings – by Squiggle Champion of the World Matt Lively
Creative questioning – by ART 180

Raffle prizes every hour (tickets only a buck): from 821 Café, Bev’s Homemade Ice Cream, Bunnyhop Bike Shop, Caliente, Chop Suey Books, Crossroads Coffee & Ice Cream, Ellwood Thompson’s Natural Market, Halcyon Vintage, Lamplighter Roasting Company, Nile Ethiopian, Plan 9, Rostov’s Coffee & Tea, Rumors, Six Burner, Star-lite, Video Fan, World of Mirth, and ART 180

And food from Joe’s Inn (including pizza by the slice) and Shields Market, and coffee from Lamplighter. Oh! And a Spider-Man moonbounce! For Jonny.

Thanks to the Fan District Association, the Fan Woman’s Club, and Zanin friends and family for funding this festival.

Now really, could you possibly have more fun in one weekend??? Impossible.
