Did the Richmond Crusade for Voters endorse any School Board or City Council candidates? If so, who? Do they hand out a questionaire like the REA?

Gray,

The Crusade used to conduct interviews, but I don't know what they do now. Anyway, the membership votes and majority rules.

According to the RT-D, here are the Crusade's picks:

The Crusade also endorsed two Democrats for national office, Mark R. Warner for the Senate seat being vacated by Republican John W. Warner; and Robert C. Scott for re-election to his 3rd District seat in the House of Representatives.

For the City Council, the Crusade is backing:
# Jonathan D. Davis, trying to unseat Chris A. Hilbert in the 3rd District;
# Incumbents Bruce W. Tyler, 1st; Katherine C. Graziano, 4th; E. Martin Jewell, 5th; Ellen F. Robertson, 6th; Delores L. McQuinn, 7th; Reva M. Trammell, 8th; and Doug G. Conner Jr., 9th.
# Charles R. Samuels for the 2nd District seat currently held by mayoral candidate William J. Pantele.

For the School Board, the Crusade is backing:
# Challengers Kimberly B. Gray, 2nd, and Otis E. Mallory, 5th;
# Incumbent Chandra Smith, 6th;
# In open races, Norma H. Murdoch-Kitt, 3rd; Adria A. Graham Scott, 4th; Donald L. Coleman, 7th; and Dawn C. Page, 8th;
# Unopposed incumbents Kimberly Bridges, 1st, and Evette L. Wilson, 9th.

Both the REA and the Crusade for Voters are all over the map and it is scary predictable on why they chose certain candidates to endorse...put it this way, it's not always for the greater good of Richmonders.

There are two beasts -the corporations and non- profit organizations -and I dislike them both because they have more say over the education of our children than the parents in public schools.

When I walk into the voting booth, neither corporate nor non-profit endorsements will influence my decision.
