Hofstra pulls the plug on football program

Hofstra makes the second Colonial Athletic Association member to drop its football program since the season ended; Northeastern made its announcement last week.

Hofstra’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to end the program on Wednesday night, citing low interest and limited fan support among its reasons. The resources will be redirected toward new academic programs and need-based scholarships.
