Gargantuan yard sale

The Church Hill People’s News tells of a yard sale on the 2800 block of East Franklin tomorrow (Saturday), starting at 9 a.m. Well, that may be interesting to Church Hill’s artifacts/junk collectors, and for folks looking for a cheap lamp, or perhaps an old turntable that still works. But it’s not exactly headline news all over town. That is, unless Chuck Wrenn is the man in charge.

With Wrenn we get the umpteenth edition of his “Gargantuan and All Overshadowing All Church Hill Yard Sale.” Before he moved to his house across the street from Libby Hill Park in 1979, Chuck’s annual yard sales used to be based in the Fan District. Going all the way back to the ‘60s, his “gargantuan” yard sales have always been chock full of fun — more than just a yard sale — because, at heart, Chuck is ever the impresario.

Then, if you like, read a feature article about Chuck that I penned for a local rag a few years ago. Click here to go to “Rock ‘n’ Roll Impresario - High on the Hog’s Chuck Wrenn.”
