Dragons slay Rams

The VCU Rams continued their struggles on the road, in the process of losing their third CAA game out of the four played this season: Drexel 75, VCU 72.

The Rams, very much a work-in-progress, are in a slump. As they return from their unsuccessful trip to Philadelphia, the Rams’ confidence as a unit can’t be waxing. For the first time in his career as a head coach Shaka Smart’s team has lost two consecutive games.

“Both teams battled extremely hard tonight,” Smart said. “I’m proud of the way our guys executed in a lot of ways, but in the end you cannot let a team knock down 10 three’s in their own gym and expect to win. Going forward, we have to find ways to improve in that area and many others.”

Bradford Burgess had a career night with 30 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Larry Sanders finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.
