The Associations that should be against this in Shockoe Bottom have people in there with their own interests. They are willing to fall in because they were promised things that will never happen. Church Hill does have an interest here because a majority of them walk through here, shop here and even work here. I apprecate the fact they see this deal for what it is.

Church Hill has historically been the Grand NIMBY of Shockoe Bottom and riverfront development and this is no exception. The people who truly matter, the businesses and residents of the Bottom (sorry Velvet, you're outnumbered), support this project. ALL residents of Richmond should voice their opinion on this matter, however, why should Church Hill get more credit and attention than they deserve? I think there is a certain sense of entitlement there that assumes higher incomes and bigger houses mean a louder voice in public matters and I simply don't agree with that premise. I admire how involved this neighborhoods citizens are however they've taken far too big a role in the prevention of development in a neighborhood that's not theirs. With the exception of infrastructure improvements that would have to take place before ANY development could be put down there, no one is asking anything from Church Hill or Richmond residents.

Jeff E.,

If taxpayers who live close to the proposed project shouldn't have a say about this issue, who should have a say?

It seems to me that if the developers want help from The City, the adjoining counties and the Commonwealth of Virginia, a lot of people have got a legitimate stake in this very controversial matter.

There's a shocker. Luckily Church Hill folks should have no say whatsoever as to what happens in the Bottom.
