Carol Wolf endorses Robert Grey

Outgoing school board member Carol Wolf has endorsed Robert Grey for mayor.

… I believe Robert Grey  is the one man who has the necessary skills and knowledge to help our city move from the “Politics of Meanness” into the “Politics of Meaning.”  His leadership style is one of collaboration — not confrontation.

I am sure you are aware, Mayor Wilder and I have had some major disagreements during the past four years.  Given that history, I am perhaps the least likely person to support a candidate allegedly anointed by Mr. Wilder or one suspected of being beholden to the movers and shakers in our business community, much less a member of the “Gang of 26″ who wanted to abolish elected School Boards in favor of appointed boards.

Grey is no more anointed by Wilder than I am.  I have known Grey for the past 23 years and during that time, I have seen ample evidence that he is his own man, unbought and unbossed.

  1. Wolf is right! We don’t need any more of the same old, tired old racial gang politics as practiced by Henry Marsh (Dwight’s puppeteer) against Doug Wilder.

It is only a question of time before Dwight’s money and woman problems start showing up in print.

Who wants a Mayor like Pantele who panders, panders and panders to whatever group he happens to be talking with at a given time?

Has Pandering Pantele ever met a developer he didn’t like?

I am not crazy about Robert Grey, either. But, he is the most qualified and least offensive.

At least he is strongly against that Echo Harbor mess.

  2. FYI:

We had a great turn-out for the “meet-and-greet” yesterday and I remain convinced that Grey is the best man for the job.

Grey is the consummate professional and is truly concerned for the well-being of the city and region.

We don’t need another four years of drama and histrionics that are the hallmark of career politicians.

Unfortunately, Pantele and Jones (good men) are to the City of Richmond what George Bush and John McCain are to our nation.

Grey’s message is similar to Obama’s — we need a fresh start and the hope that if we all work together we can make real the vision of a nation (and city) that is “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

  3. I attended Carol Wolf’s meet and greet yesterday and I found Robert Grey to be an extremely pleasant individual who showed sincere interest in our concerns and answered our questions fully and honestly.

I asked Robert Grey about his work as a corporate lawyer and his ability to represent us and he said that (I’m paraphrasing) his work at Hunton and Williams will stay at Hunton and Williams when he leaves the office -in a nutshell, as mayor he will represent the people, not the corporations.

Like many of us, he was raised in Richmond and wants to make the city something we can all be proud of. Robert Grey will tap into Richmond’s strength -our art, culture, history, and beauty. He will make education his number one priority; he fully understands that good schools are absolutely important in building a city in which people want to live. Robert Grey will bring to City Hall diplomacy skills, elegance, integrity, and transperancy.
