Ball’s ‘All That I Will Ever Be’ at Shafer St. Playhouse

This message from John Porter just came in:

There will be a (free!) production of Alan Ball’s “All That I Will Ever Be,” at the Newdick Theatre in the Shafer Street Playhouse on the VCU campus (next to the Shafer Dining Court) on November 13th through 15th. The performances will be at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Ball, as most of you know, wrote the play “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress,” is the creator of the HBO series True Blood and Six Feet Under, and won an Oscar for “American Beauty.”

“All That I Will Ever Be” is a smart critique of American culture and consumption, with Ball’s signature satirical style dissecting fractured and shifting identities in post-9/11 Los Angeles.

The marvelous performers include Dallas Tolentino, Chris Leary, Elliott Lau, Felisha Barnes, Josh Chenard, and a special video appearance by yours truly, John Porter.  It is directed by Noreen Barnes and Justin Amellio.

Notes: Donations will be gladly accepted at the door to support the Senior Class Performers’ showcase trips. The Shafer Street Playhouse building is not handicap-accessible, and restrooms are right next door in the dining court.

Hope to see you there!
